FIA WEC: Bruno Senna hopes debut "on the cake" in LMP2
Six Hours of Silverstone open calendar World Endurance Championship.
SAO PAULO - Two years after leaving the official team of Aston Martin in the GTE Pro division, Bruno Senna reestreia this weekend in the FIA WEC - World Endurance Championship, this time leading the prototype Ligier JS P2-Nissan Mexican RGR Sports by Morand in the LMP2 category. The 6 Hours of Silverstone, with start scheduled for 8 hours (GMT) on Sunday, open the nine-step calendar featuring the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans as its highest point.
Bruno arrived today to England and went straight to the race track, which would exercise the driver change with fellow Mexican Ricardo Gonzalez and Portuguese Filipe Albuquerque. Over the next few days, this will be a trio of priority, since the practice just is not possible during the prologue held last month at Paul Ricard in France. The collective tests, however, were not able to point out the real potential of each car, at least served to design the initial impressions. "Everything indicates that we are on the cake," warned Bruno.
Eleven cars are entered for the first fight in LMP2, the most numerous and competitive grid. Besides Bruno, four other Brazilians are at Silverstone: Nelsinho Piquet, dividing the Rebellion R-One - AER with German Nick Heidfeld and Frenchman Nicolas Prost, and Lucas di Grassi with its partners, the Frenchman Loïc Duval and British Olicer Jarvis at the command of the Audi R18 LMP1. Pipo Derani, Canadian Christopher Cumming and Briton Ryan Dalziel will pilot a similar car to Bruno in LMP2. Finally, Fernando Rees remained in GTE Pro with the official team of Aston Martin alongside New Zealander Richie Stanaway.
Bruno praised the behavior of the Ligier JS P2-Nissan at Paul Ricard, while pointing out that the different conditions likely to harm each car a more precise analysis of the results on the French track. "You never know exactly what others are testing, what the amount of fuel they carry. My best lap, with new and full tank tires, was half a second slower than the fastest.
