Construction is Back on Track

We’re ready to roll!

Engineering and construction teams are enthusiastic to resume work immediately. Our construction managers are confident that the circuit will be ready for the 2012 race date.

We will have over 300 workers back on site by the end of next week. Yesterday, equipment started making its way back to the construction site. We expect to have it all back on site by next week moving full speed ahead!

Hamilton and Button Ready For Austin!

Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has unveiled the car it will campaign in the upcoming Formula One season that includes the inaugural United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on November 18.

“I’m really excited about heading back to the States,” Button said. “I’ve never been to Austin but I’ve heard great things about the city itself. And I’ve heard also great things about the circuit and the layout, and hopefully we can put on a great show when we get there.”

“I remember racing in the States before in Indianapolis which was a good circuit. But the steps that Austin has taken to make sure this is a proper, F1 circuit, I think we’re going to love it. It’s going to be a lot of fun. And hopefully we have the support of the American fans.”

Fans at the Circuit of The Americas and the other tracks this season will see a record six Formula One World Champions in action as Kimi Raikkonen makes his return to race alongside Button, Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and 2010 and 2011 champion Sebastian Vettel.

We’ve been listening to our fans, and Circuit of The Americas has released thousands of new seats to the general public.

Turn 9 and Turn 11 West will be offered as Grandstand bleacher seating. These two extremely unique turns offer outstanding views of Formula 1 racing!

Turn 9 slopes toward Turn 10 (the second highest elevation) and gives an incredible view of the cars as they speed downhill towards Turn 11.

Turn 11 West is the perfect location to spot overtaking cars as they rush down the hill from Turn 10 at speeds of 180 MPH to take the hairpin Turn 11 before accelerating full throttle down the longest straightaway on the track.

Из увиденного и прочитанного могу предположить, что организаторы попытаются вывести ГП в плюс не благодаря билетам на трибуны, стоимость которых на 3 дня явно изумляет неискушенных в Ф1 американцев, а за счет простого доступа на трассу и сопутствующих расходов (напитки, еда, парковка, бензин и проч.), дающих прибыль казне каунти и штата.

Относительно логистики - я бы рекомендовал не зацикливаться аэропортом Остина (он достаточно небольшой и это приведет к очевидному значительному росту цен в дни ГП), а колоссальным по размеру хабам Хьюстона и Далласа. Любая сеть типа www.expedia.com тут же предложит вам съэкономить на аренде авто, коих должно быть в избытке (не в пример самому Остину). 2,5 часа езды с учетом 9 часосовой разницы с Москвой и соответственно просыпания ни свет ни заря (по практике - в самом лучшем случае люди просыпатся в районе 6 утра, а как правило - раньше) приведут к оптимальным условиям для спокойного заблаговременного передвижения в Остин.

Сан-Антонио в 130 км - там наверняка вечером повеслее. А пробки могут быть только в самом остине.
