Speed Date With Sebastian Vettel In Hamburg: News Cut

Габмург как провели день Себ и Себ, на английском In the footsteps of a champion Fast cars, fast boats and errr... fast food – all in an exceptionally busy day’s work for Sebastian Vettel and one lucky fan, who was fastest off the mark with an incredibly rapid and inventive response to our ‘Walk a Mile in Seb’s Shoes’ competition in association with footwear partner Geox. Last Wednesday we offered German fans the chance to shadow Seb for a day, with two provisos; they only had a few hours to get their answer in and they had to get to Hamburg in double quick time in order to meet the triple world champion as he prepared for a full-on day of off-race weekend activity. Tobias was the quickest out of the blocks with his clever revelation that he’d cut up his own shoes and remodelled them in order to make them more like Seb’s, so that he could really feel what it was like to walk like a champ. The impromptu footwear redesign, and the ensuing discomfort (Tobias is bit larger than Seb!) naturally meant he’d need a new pair of shoes and he quite fancied a pair of Seb’s Geox race boots. Notified on Wednesday evening that he’d won, Tobias grabbed his wife, jumped in his car and drove overnight to cover the 650 kilometres from his home in Stuttgart to make it to Hamburg in time to meet Sebastian. Once hooked up with Infiniti Red Bull Racing star, Tobias was then given a first-hand look at how an F1 champion spends an off-race weekend day and discovered that even away from the circuit, Seb’s days are all about crazy media attention, lightning speed and lightning-fast reaction times. The fast and furious day got underway with some filming duties for our good friends at Red Bull Germany, with everyone piling into a speedboat for some hot laps around a lake in the city. And just as he does on track, Sebastian wasn’t shy about finding the limits on water, putting the powerboat through its pretty potent paces and soaking all and sundry in the process. From there, it was a super quick car transfer across to the Lüneberg race circuit, about 45 minutes’ drive south east of Hamburg, for more motorised action. Sebastian was this time joined by Infiniti Red Bull Racing Test Driver Sébastien Buemi in giving a group of Geox prizewinners the thrill of a lifetime with some flat out laps. In the days before Seb’s visit to Hamburg, Geox had invited customers at its flagship Hamburg store to enter its ‘Scream Challenge’ competition, at the end of which five lucky winners would be driven around the circuit by the two Sebs, with cash prizes on offer to those who screamed the least as the F1 drivers tore around the track. So far, so frantic, but the day was about to get even wilder as both Sebs and Tobias headed back to Hamburg for an appearance at Geox’s city centre store. On the way, there was just enough time for the Sebs and our competition winner to wolf down some pasta from a plastic container (so much for the glamour of F1!). Once back in Hamburg, the drivers were met by a scene of full-scale mayhem at the store, as the street was mobbed by hundreds of fans all eager to get in and meet the triple world champion. Following a frenzied media session, the two Sebs then got down to the serious business of the afternoon – battling for glory on two in-store F1 simulators. Prior to the event, Geox had invited customers to try their luck on the race machines and the two customers with the best lap times would then get to pit their skills against the Sebs on Thursday afternoon. Seb V emerged victorious from his battle with the overall Formula Geox winner but surprisingly we think Seb B was beaten by his opponent, though we have a sneaking suspicion there might have been some, shall we say, ‘robust’ racing techniques employed! Then again, as Robert Duvall said in cheesy race flick ‘Days of Thunder’, “rubbin’ is racing’”! And that was it, from early morning to 6pm, a full day in Seb’s shoes. Fast-paced, frantic and with hardly time to take a breath – not so different than race day at a grand prix!

SEBASTIAN VETTEL HEADS STRAIGHT FROM MONACO TO ROAD CAR TESTING AS INFINITI’S DIRECTOR OF PERFORMANCE LE CASTELLET, France (May 27, 2013) – Less than 24 hours after claiming second place in the incident-packed 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, Formula One Triple World Champion Sebastian Vettel was back on track at the famous Circuit Paul Ricard in his role as Director of Performance for Infiniti. The Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver spent the day evaluating the latest Infiniti road cars and their competitors, accompanied by experts from Infiniti’s European Dynamic Performance Team based at the company’s development centres in Bonn, Germany and Barcelona, Spain. Luis Bravo, who leads Infiniti’s Customer Oriented Engineering and Vehicle Target Setting in Europe, says the goal is to align fully the engineers’ expectations of what makes a great car with those of Vettel. Their joint development work on future Infiniti road cars will see the 2013 championship leader taking an active role in product testing and providing driving and performance input at various points this year and beyond. “Sebastian’s role as Director of Performance is significant in providing input to the team and we are very excited to be working closely with him,” said Bravo. “Today was the first opportunity we have had to dive into what he wants and expects from a premium, performance road car so we’ll be able to take his critical evaluation into account as we as we develop the driving and performance attributes of Infiniti’s next generation Q cars.” Bravo’s team of specialist engineers spent several hours with Vettel driving a number of the latest premium performance road cars over the legendary Paul Ricard circuit in France which now operates as a first class test facility. The goal was for the engineers to hear directly from Vettel his views on important vehicle attributes like handling, steering feel and response, vehicle agility and ride comfort. “As new Infiniti cars are created, it is really important for us to develop them with their own consistent driving style, so it has been really useful to be able to drive so many cars hard and back-to-back on the same track,” said Vettel. “Similar to Formula One cars, it’s interesting to feel how different cars are configured for steering response and braking as well as driver assistance features like ESP and Traction Control. Getting these things right is what makes a good car great.” Sebastian Vettel was announced as Director of Performance for Infiniti at the 2013 New York International Auto Show in April. This role extends and enhances Vettel’s relationship with the premium automotive brand which formally began in 2011. In this capacity, Vettel already has played a crucial role in developing Infiniti’s current vehicle line-up, starting with the exclusive Infiniti FX Vettel Edition and its latest model, the all-new Infiniti Q50. Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen said: “The enhanced role Sebastian has taken on with Infiniti is another step in the integration of our Formula One program into the Infiniti product development process. His uncanny sensitivity to chassis set-up has made him very popular with our development engineers, who relish the opportunity to achieve great precision in suspension, braking and steering calibration. This is great news for Infiniti drivers who will directly benefit from the excellent vehicle dynamics.” For the all-new Infiniti Q50, Vettel spent time with Infiniti engineers in Japan early in the development process to provide them with his world-class chassis dynamics, performance and handling feedback. He was then involved in testing early models alongside Infiniti Red Bull Racing Test and Reserve driver Sebastien Buemi in Japan, around the famed Nürburgring in Germany, and at the Formula One pre-season test at the Spanish Circuit de Catalunya last March. This week’s testing session at Circuit Paul Ricard will directly influence future Infiniti models, including an exciting premium entry compact model, expected to be produced in Europe from 2015, allowing the company to compete in the heart of the premium segment for the first time. хайрез фотки
